Land forces: 7 500 people, 7 motorized infantry and artillery brigades, 1 light infantry battalion of fast response, 1 airborne battalion. Arms: 650 tanks (T-54, T-55, T-62), 120 BRDM-2, 400 BMP-1, 250 ATC BTR-60, 450 field artillery guns, 130 MLRS BM-21, 140 mortars, 200 85 and 100 mm antitank guns.

Air defence: 800 people, 9 war-planes, 11 combat helicopters. Planes and helicopters: 9 MiG-21, 15 An-2, 12 An-24, 3 An-26, 2 Boeing 727, 11 Mi-24. Air defence: 150 antiaircraft emplacements and 250 portable surface-to-air missile systems.
