Arms: about 300 tanks (T-55, T-62), over 200 combat armoured vehicles, 300 towed and about 30 self-propelled pieces of ordnance, 50 MLRS BM-21, mortars, antitank missile systems Malyutka, 65 portable surface-to-air missile systems, antiaircraft guns.

Air force: 2 500 people, 51 war-planes, 26 combat helicopters. Planes and helicopters: 24 MiG-21MF, 17 MiG-23BH, 4 Su-25, 6 Su-27, 4 C-130B, 7 An-12, 2 DH-6, Yak-40, 2 Y-12, 13 L-39, 10 SF-260, 26 Mi-24, 22 Mi-8 and Mi-17.
